My name is Sarah Goodwin. I am a Doctoral Student at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. I graduated there with a Master's Degree in Deaf Education/Deaf Studies in 2013. I am currently teaching a course called Working with DeafBlind Persons at Lone Star College. I enjoy working with students and supporting them as I learn something new every time I teach the class.

I am currently the Treasurer of the American Association of DeafBlind (AADB) and have been on the Board since 2016. I learn something new from working with the Board from time to time. I also host DeafBlind events where I invite several DeafBlind people to socialize establishing a "Protactile Zone" via Protactile American Sign Language (PTASL) in the Houston area. Hosting these events brings me happiness by knowing that DeafBlind guests smiling are having an awesome time together!

I like to stay involved in the Deaf Community, because I feel that having a strong foundation helps to build a much stronger community. Being involved in the DeafBlind community is important since there are so many DeafBlind individuals who may need each other's support to be successful in their lives.

I have attended DBCTX since its first year in 2016, and decided to join the team the second year. I worked as SSP Coordinator for 2 years and learned a lot from this awesome experience. I'm excited to now become a member of the Board to continue to make a difference in this organization and this community, to build our foundation and make more connections with new people! I'm excited for this year; we're going to have a great time!

Hi. My name is Patrick Vellia and I am a DeafBlind triathlete from Minnesota. I grew up in New York and after graduating high school moved to Charlotte, North Carolina for 13 years. There, I served on the NCDBA Board as Vice President and Member At Large between 2009-2018. I served the NC DeafBlind Camp Dogwood for a number of years in various roles, including planning committee, procurement, advocacy, operations, fundraising, and Director In Training. I also completed two half Ironman triathlons during the Augusta 70.3 2016 and 2017 race years.

Now, I work at Target Field during the summer in the suites kitchen while the Minnesota Twins play; Target Center in the winter as a catering cook for the Minnesota Timberwolves; Panera's Catering hub where I maintain supply; and as a contractor for the Minnesota Commission for the DHHDB pertaining to the Census 2020 and Voter Outreach projects, currently. I am also a Member of the AADB Board.

I have been a camper at DBCTX for the past two years and enjoy it quite immensely - even over Seabeck. Though we are still a small group, there are a lot of adventures to be had at Camp here in Texas. While we were at PKRC, we could be doing high ropes, swimming, hands-on stockyard, motorcycling (sighted driver, of course), go-kart driving/riding, signing the Pledge atop flag poles, dances and cooking classes. Don't forget the hours you can spend in the pool, including scuba diving class!

This year at YMCA Cullen we'll have the addition of 20+ horses, rifle shooting & speedboating in a natural lake, among other activities. I look forward to serving as the DBCTX Adult Camp 2020 Director!

I am Tanya Arriaga. I have a Master's level Graduate of Clinical Psychology with an interest in mindfulness-based methods of yoga and AcroYoga. I completed over 400+ hours of yoga teacher training with Youga Yoga of Corpus Christi, Yogabatics of Austin, Yoga of Trust team and I'm currently a certified instructor of LIFT School of Acrobatics. Yoga and AcroYoga are an important part of my life.

Being that I'm partially blind and almost completely deaf and I have been able to excel at these practices since I have empowered myself to heighten my other senses. My great passion is to help people who have been through stressful experiences by strengthening their relationship and overall view of themselves so they can have a sense of inner peace, completeness, happiness and feel generally loved.
